Good morning, The Bible Recap reading Judges 3 - 5 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 90 Finally ready to enter the book of Judges. But will have to fully catch up over the weekend. "I also speak peace to you. For I know your anxious thoughts. Listen to me. Tune out other voices so that you can hear me more clearly." Sarah Young, Jesus Calling. I can certainly use some peace today. Heading off to work for what promises to be a very busy day that probably won't end at 5 pm, but will instead spill over a couple of hours... my mind on so many things. I could use some of that wonderful peace from Jesus right now. Quiet my thoughts, Jesus, so that I can hear you more clearly. Have a blessed day.

Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Judges 1 - 2 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 89 "Signs of my presence brighten even the dullest day when you have eyes that really see. Search for me as for hidden treasure. I WILL be found by you." Sarah Young, Jesus Calling Devotional. What a lovely word for me today. I admit, I am having a struggle this morning. So this reminder of what it means to trust God fully was appreciated. We are quickly approaching Easter season and I have deep concerns about people I love who are straying away from our loving Father. Every time I'm tempted to be discouraged, I'm reminded of this word from Nate and Christy Johnson, and her words within of; "the lost are coming home, says the Lord God almighty.". Built into this word about God's heart to restore American is the story of Nehemiah. Holding on tightly to the hope these words give me, not just for my straying children but also for my broken, and in desperate need of a touch from God himself, Country. I pray for all of our lost loved ones this morning, that Jesus would lead them home. I pray for our lost Country, that God would continue to set us free from the darkness that binds us. Give us all eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to understand the times we are living in. I pray for God's grace and mercy to fall on our land. Have a blessed day! Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Joshua 22 -24 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 88 Though, I'm still back about Day 86. "Though the world around you is messy and confusing, remember that I have overcome the world. I have told you these things so that IN ME you may have peace." Read this is my morning devotional this morning. It spoke to me. We have a lot of confused people believing lies from the pit of hell... and it is our children suffering the most. Prayers for all those affected by the tragedy in Nashville. And prayers for our children that the adults they trust the most would protect them, and not continue to put them in harms way. Have a blessed day. Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Joshua 19 - 21 The Bible Recap Podcast for Day 87 Running very late this morning but I will say this site needs some new life breathed into it... yesterday we had a whopping 15 page views. Praying for ideas on what I could do to the God Who Listens who will answer me if I find a quiet place to rest in his presence. In the meantime, have a blessed day. Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Joshua 16 - 18 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 86 It's a Monday and once again, I'm behind. But that doesn't mean I'm not still committed. I just need to play catch up a little. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I need to take to heart the words from the Sarah James devotional this morning which says... "Be still in my presence even when countless tasks clamor for your attention. Nothing is as important as spending time with me. As you wait in my presence, I do my best work within you." This is my problem. I have too much on my plate... and I need to remove whatever I can to be able to spend more time with Jesus. Because, as Tara-Leigh likes to remind us... Jesus is where the JOY is! Have a blessed day. Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Joshua 12 - 15) The Bible Recap Podcast Day 85 Pureflix - if you are desiring Entertainment Good for the Soul, a Pureflix subscription is an awesome choice. Last night, I was able to finish the Karen Kingsbury" production of "A Thousand Tomorrows". Sad, but uplifting story as most of Karen's books are. Then, I found my way to a movie called "Woodlawn" which was an earlier release from The Erwin Brothers (Jesus Revolution) set in the early 70's in Birmingham, Alabama. I apologize if you visited the other site and read through this already THERE... but, this is really a more appropriate candidate for this site. Amazing story. Woodlawn High School, Birmingham Alabama in 1972 is on the verge of needing to be shut down due to racial tensions. The football coach, Coach Geralds (Nic Bishop), struggling with fights breaking out against his black players and feeling frustrated to know what to do to stop the violence. In fact, the problem was school wide. Enter Hank Erwin (played by Sean Astin), a traveling Chaplain (directly affected by the Jesus Movement after having attended Explo 72 in Dallas, TX) who asked permission to give a short inspirational chat to the team in an effort to help. Two hours later, the entire team had embraced faith and learned to accept each other despite their differences. This unified the team in an incredible way. Which in turn affected Coach Geralds, the entire school, their rival team (Banks High School) and their coach (played by C Thomas Howell), and their community and brought forth a spiritual awakening very much like what was happening in California at the same time. Tony Nathan (played by Caleb Castille) was one of Woodlawn's black players who was an incredible talent (some avid football fans might recall his name as he did go on to play college football for Alabama and then played in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins so in some ways this is HIS story). Now, with a team ready to accept him, he became the star, much to the angst of some of the parents and the coach of their rival Banks, who had an incredible quarterback of their own (Jeff Rutledge (played by Richard Kohnke - also a former Alabama player who spent some time in the NFL as well). The greatness of young Tony Nathan gets the attention of the Alabama Coach (the famous Paul "Bear" Bryant) who is played by Jon Voight - always fun to see him. Don't wish to give all the story away, but suffice it to say, it is an incredible one and one I am happy I took the time to watch. It is not your average inspirational high school football story. Notable events of this "based on a true story" story: An entire public school breaks out into a full weekend prayer meeting getting the school board all up in arms. A high school football game between Woodlawn and Rival Banks had so many people show up to watch, they had to turn 20,000 people away. The two coaches and the two teams want to say the Lord's prayer before the start of the game. A disgruntled official turns off the sound system to put a stop to it, but the teams and the crowd in the stands continue the recitation anyway. "This is what happens when GOD shows up"... Hank Erwin If you ever get a chance to see this wonderful movie, do. It's a highly inspirational one! Oh... and btw... Woodlawn High School is still open today. Okay, heading up the mountain today to visit daughters' college. Hope you all have a blessed day! Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Joshua 9:11 The Bible Recap Podcast for Day 84 To have the faith to ask for God to stop the Sun and believe that HE not only CAN but WILL do it! I want that kind of faith. Our GOD can do the impossible. Great thing to KNOW in today's world, right? "Better is one day in HIS courts, then thousands elsewhere." I've always loved this song. Lots of stuff I need to do on my Saturday. Will be on a day trip tomorrow so won't be around much. One thing I will do today is catch the final episode of "A Thousand Tomorrows" on Pureflix. I need to find some PureFlix subscribers so that my Pureflix blog can be active. I'll work on that one day. Anyway, have a blessed day! Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Joshua 5 - 8 The Bible Recap Podcast for Day 83 I am completely caught up! For the first time in a while. However, I am also now running very late. Today's reading did include the story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho. The children of Israel defeating Jericho simply by obeying God when he told them to march around the city seven times then blow the trumpets and SHOUT. You all know this story, right? Obedience to God is the key to victory. And it's why studying God's word is so important. Hard to know the mind of Christ when you aren't ever in HIS presence through the reading of HIS word. Right? Must go now. Wish I had more time. Alas, I need to get to work. Hope you all have a blessed day! God Wins! And HE IS where the JOY is. Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Joshua 1 - 4 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 82 "God of wonders beyond our galaxy - YOU are Holy!" I have always loved that song. As I was scrolling through songs just after reading through the final chapters of Deuteronomy... well, I should say WHILE.... this song popped out at me as the perfect way to close out the first five books of the Bible. HE IS a GOD of Wonder and Majesty. AND, HE is where the JOY is. God Wins. As I'm watching all the chaos in the world right now, I have never been more convinced of this truth. GOD is in control and GOD WINS. Have a blessed day! Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Deuteronomy 32 - 34, Psalm 91 The Bible Recap Podcast Day "I do my greatest works with people with grateful, trusting hearts." Sarah Young Tara Leigh is finishing up Deuteronomy today, throwing in Psalm 91, one of my favorites. Tomorrow starts to book of Joshua. I still have a couple of chapters to catch up but will get there tonight so that tomorrow I'm ready. Prayers for our Nation today. A lot of interesting, scary stuff going on. Having a grateful, trusting heart that understands GOD is in control and GOD WINS helps. Have a blessed day! Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Deuteronomy 30 - 31 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 80 Running very late this morning... but the above scripture is a great one for today. We must pray for God's justice to rule today and we must not fear but instread trust in the LORD with ALL of our hearts. Be Strong. Be Courageous. Pray unceasingly for our Country and God's protection for us all. I love the Sarah Young devotionals and just yesterday acquired her Morning/Evening devotional book. Today's message began with these words... "Trust ME and don't be afraid for I am your strength and song. Think what it means to have ME as your strength" Amazing words for today! Thank you Jesus. Have a blessed day! Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Deuteronomy 28-29 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 79 It's a Monday. And as it is with ALL Monday's, I'm struggling to get motivated for my day. A fresh start to a new week... Jesus, help me walk into it with joy in my heart and thanksgiving for all of your blessings. Prayers for our Nation. We look to YOU and YOU alone for help and salvation. Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you." Have a blessed day! The Bible Recap Reading: Deuteronomy 24 - 27 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 78 A little behind again on this but no worries... I'll catch up today. Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Running a bit short on time but enjoy this lovely video and this beautiful song about being in the presence of God in worship. Have a blessed day! Good morning, The Bible Recap Reading: Deuteronomy 21 - 23 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 77 Going to spend another afternoon at the movies this weekend... running a little behind with my day but am looking forward to another viewing of Jesus Revolution with a couple of family members who have not yet seen it. The original point of this site was about highlighting "Entertainment Good for the Soul" so this morning, I thought I'd walk down that road today. Last night, a visit into Pureflix told me that they have a new series based on the Karen Kingsbury book "A Thousand Tomorrows". Watched the first episode and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the rest of this mini-series about a young man dealing with deep anger at his Father who abandoned his family when he was a child and a young woman dealing with a serious illness - both big names on the rodeo circuit. Karen Kingsbury has such amazing books. I've read a few, though I don't think I've read this one. I love that they have also included a Bible Study video series on the book to be enjoyed along with the series. Pureflix has fantastic content for people who enjoy a little TV but want to be inspired. It is a subscription streaming site which currently is running a starter month for .99 cents, if anyone is interested in checking it out. However, they don't have the one movie I was looking for. Dallas Jenkin's movie that he considers his biggest failure but that I LOVE because it's amazing. "The Resurrection of Gavin Stone". At the time it was released in theaters, it was before people were so open to Christian content at the movies. He should re-release it NOW and see what happens - now that he is quite popular worldwide for "The Chosen". The movie is Easter themed and has a couple of familiar faces in the cast. Brett Dalton (Agents of Shield), D.B. Sweeney (who I know best from the original The Cutting Edge movie early in his career), Neil Flynn (who some of us might know from his work on two highly popular TV shows - Scrubs and The Middle) It is the story of a former child star who was known for being a bad boy, doing his best as an adult to live up to that image.. who gets in a bit of trouble for trashing a hotel room and finds himself doing community service at a large church who just happens to be casting for their Easter production. The actor in him can't resist and he asks to audition for the part of Jesus. Playing Jesus in a story about the Resurrection of Jesus sends him on a faith journey. It's a comedy, but also a heartwarming story... though, it might be a little cheesy in places for some. But overall, it's a lovely story. Which right now can only be streamed on Netflix. Okay, time for me to be productive. Have a blessed day! The Bible Recap Reading: Deuteronomy 17 - 20 The Bible Recap Podcast Day 76 This song popped up on my Spotify yesterday and while I've heard it before, many times, it really took on some fresh meaning for me. Everywhere I hear faith people talk: the Pastor of my Church, the Flashpoint host and his guests, Elijah Streams and their guests, even in the watch of the Jesus Revolution movie - there is one theme prevalent in today's world. It is important that we are able to accept people as they are and welcome them into our Church's. Revival is coming. God IS doing something new in today's world, just as He did in the late 60s early 70s. And there are many, many lost souls who will need to be welcomed in to meet Jesus. Maybe some that don't LOOK like what we are used to seeing in Church. Will we welcome them? Or will we be more concerned about the shag carpet then seeing their souls get saved? (Reference, Jesus Revolution conversation between Chuck Smith and one of his Board Members who complained that "half of them are not even wearing shoes. They are ruining the shag carpet." To which Pastor Chuck replied, "so we are concerned about saving the carpet?" The inference being we SHOULD be more concerned about them being "saved" and serving Jesus. Who cares about the carpet, right? Jesus loves ALL people as they are all part of HIS creation, no matter what they are dealing with or participating in or struggling with - HE wants to set them free from the "whatever they are struggling withs" and to see them saved. Will we answer this call from our Father to accept people as they are into our Church's and into our world? My thought for the day. Have a blessed day! |
