I love Christmas Carols. More specifically, the ones most would consider Hymns. The ones the share Jesus, that is. I have quite a few favorites. If you go beyond the first verses to read the entire lyric, you will find some beautiful poetry all pointing to the one who we celebrate Christmas to honor. Jesus. Hark! The herald angels sing Glory to the new born King Peace on earth and mercy mild God and sinners reconciled Joyful all ye nations rise Join the triumph of the skies With angelic hosts proclaim Christ is born in Bethlehem With angelic hosts proclaim Christ is born in Bethlehem Mild He lays His glory by Born that man no more may die Born to raise the sons of Earth Born to give them second birth Veiled in flesh the Godhead see Hail the incarnate deity Pleased as man with men to dwell Jesus our Immanuel Pleased as man with men to dwell Jesus our Immanuel Hail the heaven born Prince of Peace Hail the Son of righteousness Light and life to all He brings Risen with healing in His wings Christ the highest heaven adore Christ the everlasting Lord Come desire of nations come Fix in us Thy humble home I have always loved this rendition of "Hark The Herald Angels Sing" that Amy Grant did on her first Christmas album many years ago.... But then last night, I stumbled into an airing of "The Chosen: Messengers", long enough to hear this rendition of "Angels We Have Heard on High" from Phil Wickham. Angels we have heard on high Sweetly singing o'er the plains And the mountains in reply Echoing their joyous strains Gloria In Excelsis Deo Gloria In Excelsis Deo Shepherds why this jubilee? Why your joyous strains prolong? Say what may the tidings be Which inspire your heavenly song? Gloria In Excelsis Deo Gloria In Excelsis Deo Come to Bethlehem and see Him Whose birth the angels sing; Come, adore on bended knee Christ the Lord, the newborn King Gloria In Excelsis Deo Gloria In Excelsis Deo See within in a manger laid Jesus Lord of heav'n and earth Mary, Joseph lend your aid With us sing our Savior's birth Absolutely gorgeous. I might have a new favorite. Have a blessed day!
