In honor of Season 3 coming soon, I thought it would be fun to use this time while we wait to re-visit some of the best moments of the first two seasons. Beginning with Season 1 Episode 1. Here is my favorite clip. Jesus heals Mary Magdelene, the final season of the first episode of Season 1. We are going to spend some time re-visiting the first two seasons and then.... on November 18th, the first two episodes of Season 3 will be released in theaters. Not long after, they will be released the normal way. I really would love to find a few folks to watch party with and discuss this wonderful show. If any of you know of anyone who would enjoy doing Watch Parties of The Chosen - Season 3, please send them my way. It's easy to watch even without cable or even without a TV. You can watch on their app available on Apple and Android both. You can watch straight from their website. If you have a Roku/Fire TV streaming device, you can download the app there to stream on your TV. They make it easy. Also, with Christmas coming soon, an evening with the two Christmas productions might also be fun. Stay tuned!

Hello Fans of The Chosen, Well, I have found one who is checking it out so thought I'd give us a start to this blog. The first episode of this amazing series is a backstory for Mary Magdelene leading up to the moment when her life is touched forever by Jesus. Mary is lost, suffering from demonic possession and living life as a prostitute. We are also introduced to Matthew, the Tax Collector. I love how Matthew is portrayed on this show. A young man gifted in numbers far beyond his years. Very smart. Determined. And the way he is depicted makes it seem a bit like he is someone who has Asperger's. Does the Bible say this about him specifically? Well, no. But a scenario like this for Matthew makes sense to me and the young Actor who plays him in the show is incredibly endearing. We are introduced to Simon and Andrew, two brothers who are fisherman. Simon is married to Eden, Simon's wife. And Nicodemus, the Pharisee. The first episode is, admittedly, a bit dark as we learn about Mary Magdalen's time before she was touched by Jesus. But stick with the journey through this series and you will find yourself laughing, smiling, maybe even shedding a few tears along the way, but overall, it is a glorious experience. My favorite episode of Season 1 is actually Episode 3, btw. Simply titled "Jesus Loves the Little Children". This page is being created to provide a place to chat about Season 1. If more people would like to play along, we can do episode by episode pages but for now since there are so few, we can just use this one page. We will see what happens. Season three is supposed to be released in November. I think I shall rewatch the first two seasons before this happens. Anyone care to join me? Hello Fans of The Chosen, The much-anticipated Season 3 of The Chosen will be released in November 2022. That gives us a couple of months to revisit the first two seasons. Maybe do a Christmas night with last season's special event called "Messengers" that was actually in theaters. Or the project Dallas Jenkins brought to life for his church called "The Shepherd" which focused on the night of the birth of Jesus and was the jumping point that brought this vision to life of this entire historical journey called "The Chosen". I know, it's not without its controversy. But I find it amazing and would love to find folks to share this journey with.. Plenty of truth in these two quotes from the show. The show is meant to be a look at Jesus through the eyes of his Disciples. I find it incredibly inspiring. If anyone would be interested in doing a deep dive into the first two seasons, then participating in the Watch Parties for Season 3 straight from this site, please let me know in the comments. Will put you on a "tag" list for when we start moving on this adventure. There are plenty of ways to access this show for free. No one needs to pay a streaming service. For example, it has its own App that can be downloaded on your phone and then episodes cast to your TV. If you have a Roku or a Fire TV, there is an App that can be downloaded for free that has all available episodes and extras. Not to mention a few NON-Chosen projects as well. You can watch it on the Dove Channel, I think. BYU. Pureflix. UpTV Faith and Family. Even Peacock. So many sources. So, "Come and See". "Binge Jesus". "Get Used to Different". No matter where you are in your walk with Christ; new, old, or not yet on board; The Chosen is worth the watch. Day 1 of The Chosen 40 Days with Jesus for Season 1 Devotional focuses on this verse and is a look at the "before" we all have. Before we knew Jesus. Before Peter was a disciple, he was a rash, brash fisherman. Before Matthew was a disciple, he was a tax collector and considered an enemy of his people. Before Mary Magdeline was a follower of Jesus... well, the Bible doesn't really give us much of a "before" for her, does it? But somehow, she was one of the first recipients of a miracle. She was the one Jesus was the first to visit after he rose from the dead. She was the one that got the privilege of telling the disciples this good news. She was precious to Jesus, this is obvious. This is why some folks have an issue with The Chosen. In order to tell her story, they had to come up with a reasonable "before" to depict in the show. So, Dallas Jenkins (the creator of the show) has a panel of religious leaders of all faiths that sit around a roundtable and come up together with reasonable "before" stories to depict in the show. (Btw, these Roundtables are recorded and can be watched on the App. One day I'll check those out). Some feel this is adding to scripture. Some have a problem with some of the faiths represented in his roundtable. But I feel that this is a "God-Inspired" project and if people are finding their way to Jesus through it, it's got the hand of God on it in a real way. In this day when, whether it is good or not, TV shows and movies are the main source of entertainment for most of us; I find it amazing that God has a way of meeting us where we are by giving those of us who love good storytelling, a way to hear the greatest story ever told in a way that seems relevant to our generation.
If anyone would care to be a part of this with me, let me know in the comments. |
