Hello Fans of Family Friendly TV! In case you missed this, Great American Family (the fastest growing network for the past year) has merged with Pureflix (the leading Faith and Family Friendly paid streaming App) While we don't yet know what this will ultimately mean... I CAN speculate on what I HOPE to see. Great American has been amazing at original Christmas movies, etc... but have not really dived into the Original Series world as of yet. I know things take time. So instead of filling up their evenings with tired old reruns of classic TV shows (not that there is anything wrong with that), why not introduce the Great American Audience to some of the wonderful series work that Pureflix has already made available. For example, a year ago I stumbled into a new series called "Going Home"... a look at the nurses who work in a Hospice Center. This show was produced by Affirm Films (the production company that gives us those wonderful, faith-based movies such as "Soul Surfer", "Fireproof", "Miracles from Heaven"... to name a few. If those two faces look familiar, they should. That is, of course, Cynthia Geary of "Northern Exposure" fame. And Cozi Zuehlsdorf who some might know as Harry Connick, Jr's daughter on those fun dolphin movies a few years ago. The first season was beautifully done, and I have just read that they are currently in production for Season 2. Wouldn't it be lovely to see this beautiful little show introduced to the Great American Family. How about.... Karen Kingsbury's "A Thousand Tomorrows" series that recently ran exclusively on Pureflix. I loved this series and thought as I was watching it that it was a shame it wasn't more widely available. Wouldn't it be awesome for it to get time on the Great American Family channel for those who do not have the Pureflix App? More information about upcoming new show/movie content can be found at this link... Pure Flix Makes a Splash at NRB With Impressive Lineup of Movies & Series, Celebrity Guests & More I don't know about you, but I love that with Network TV giving itself over to content that most families would deem inappropriate for family viewing, we have these two entertainment sources committed to providing appropriate content for families joining forces at a time when people are hungry for inspirational, and truth filled content. And what about the kids? Great American hasn't really come up with any real content for the little ones yet but did you know? Pureflix has a ton, including the entire catalogue of "Veggie Tales". Great fun for little ones. Another thing I bet you didn't know about Great American, they have launched a Book Club. Not sure exactly how it works but I think after you sign up, you read whatever book is being discussed and then have the ability to join a Zoom meeting to discuss the book. More details here... Great American Book Club Sign Up - Great American Family Great American also has an App called Great American Community which you can download on your device (and cast to your TV if you can get it to work - I'm having a bit of trouble with that) and get some great inspirational content from the actors. Danica McKellar, for example, is fun because she is a fairly new Christian and is very bubbly about it all. This app is giving her a platform to share with us all that she is learning about faith in Jesus. Her discoveries are fun to listen to as she learns and grows. Winnie Cooper has come a long way (The Wonder Years, in case you don't know). Also, wanted to mention that soon... very soon... Great American will be launching their "Christmas in July" series so might just have to start making announcements again of new content coming up. I only know of one new movie which Great American will launch the premiere of this Christmas in July season called.... "A Belgian Chocolate Christmas" A photographer takes her best friend’s place at a Belgian culinary school during the holidays and connects with the chocolatier leading the class. As romance begins to bloom, the only problem is a case of mistaken identity.
I don't do Christmas movies year round as some do... I need to preserve the fun of Christmas for the season so I don't get burned out. However, Christmas in July is different. If we can get some new movie content mid-summer this way, I'm happy to support it! I'm giving my full support to Great American/Pureflix and UpTV these days. They will be top priority for me when it comes to original movie content moving forward. This site IS called "Entertainment Good for the Soul", after all and some of the other sources are a bit of a minefield these days. heh. This site still does not have very good reach so if you stop by here and know anyone who might appreciate a site like this, please invite them around. We don't have to do "live chats while watching content together" as we do on the other site a lot but it will be nice to have a place to share thoughts about some of these shows and movies. Thanks for dropping in and have a blessed day!
