You hear that? I might be only mid-October... but as far as Great American Family is concerned, it's time to dive right into the Christmas season. A full week earlier than originally planned! This information was created for the other site but some on this site might also be interested. Maybe? Here is the list of all the new Christmas movies that Great American has planned. Great American/Pureflix has made a commitment to true Faith/Family content and truly seems to care about getting it right. So, I will continue to support them in their efforts. The fun got underway last night with a new movie Premiere called "Destined 2: Christmas Once More, a continuation of one of last year's movies. Theo still misses connecting with his girlfriend, Kim, as he tries to find the most romantic way to propose to her on Christmas. Now, if you recall, last season opened up with the first movie about these two lovebirds who meet in the middle of the night during black Friday shopping but get separated before they are able to find out important things about each other like "last names" and how to contact each other. Unable to put this chance meeting out of their minds, they are both on a mission to find each other. The movie ends with him recalling her mentioning her favorite Christmas Eve event, so he goes in the hopes of finding her there. This movie picks up on Thanksgiving Day a year later, when he has decided it is time to pop the question and has a difficult time finding the right time, the right place; even the ring goes missing, causing his behavior around her to be suspect.... making her think that maybe he ISN'T as ready for this next big step as she is. Of course, in the end it all works out, as we knew it would. I'm thinking next season, we will begin with a Wedding Day "missed connection" fiasco with Theo and Kim. Bound to happen. That being said, sweet movie. I enjoyed it a lot and am looking forward to MORE from Great American. A great way to start the season. There are movies running 24/7 on Great American. Of course, impossible to catch every single one. Put nice to have some nice, faith and family friendly, Christmas fun to enjoy. Also, UPTV will be launching their Christmas movie fun come November 5th. As I recall, some of my favorites from last season came from Up. Looking forward to seeing what kind of fun we have coming our way from UpTV. Hallmark is also getting three season underway this week. Looking forward to some Christmas Movie fun. Nice distraction from all the "stuff" happening in the world. However, we should always be in an attitude of prayer so please... remember to turn off the TV as much as you can and pray for our Nation and the Nations of the world. In particular, the conflict in Israel. Praying for that situation. GOD WINS!

Good morning Fans of Faith/Family Friendly TV! Remember when I first set up this site and the whole idea behind it was to highlight the world of faith and family friendly movie/tv/music content, etc. I think I did it a bit pre-maturely because until now, I don't feel like that was anything real to report, other than the fantastic work Dallas Jenkins does with "The Chosen". I've been busy with a job that has taken over my life and not a lot of free time to write anything special... but I've got a few days off this week... and just in time because now I do have something to report. It's been far too long since anyone cared to inspire our spiritual souls on network TV. While Bill Abbott had control of Hallmark, it seemed like Hallmark was the best place to go for clean, family and faith friendly content but it turns out, they were willing to blur the lines between what truly makes for "family/faith friendly" and what doesn't. Not saying everything on Hallmark is bad; one must just choose more carefully when picking programs on the Hallmark channel these days. Except for Bill Abbott. Him leaving Hallmark and setting up his own network, Great American Family, is the best thing to happen to Network TV in a long, long time because he truly DOES care about the content his network is promoting. True, getting it off the ground has taken some time. Some are getting frustrated over all the classic TV Shows filling up the schedule. We want original content. We want content that will inspire us. We want content that will give us something to think about. This is why I think the marriage between "Great American Family" and "Pureflix" was an inspired idea and one that I am truly excited about. This is just the kind of thing this site was created to promote. Last night's offering. The Abigail Mysteries, on Great American was a Pureflix original that fit the bill for faith and friendly content that inspires the soul to a tee. A young "true crime" podcaster, Abigail, buys a house in the town she grew up in and after moving there, reconnects with a lovely senior woman who is beloved by all in this small town. Then the unthinkable happens; our beloved senior passes away and to most it looks like natural causes, but our "Aurora Teagarden" wannabe doesn't buy it and sees a reason to be concerned about foul play. The older woman had left a gift on her porch, a lamp, with a scripture reference that made it seem like she was trying to send a message. As the investigation continues, it becomes clear that she knew she was in danger and was using carefully planted scriptures to help her new neighbor and crime investigator solve the mystery, with the help of a local cop who Abigail knew well from when she was younger. As the story evolves, you see this young woman, struggling with her own faith, reconnect because of this older woman who seems to be seeking her help from beyond the grave to uncover the truth. When was the last time you saw a movie with multiple scripture references which takes the time in the course of the story to explain what the scripture means in context. All the details fit. They all made sense. It was an enjoyable watch. Thank you, Bill Abbott, for pursuing excellence in faith-based storytelling for people like me, who like to find TV content that inspires the soul. In other news, The CW is under new management and is seeking to bring better content into its schedule as well. Their first act towards making this change? Getting the rights to air The Chosen on their network. On Sunday nights, at 8 pm, you can see an episode of The Chosen. This began three weeks ago, so next Sunday will be Season 1 Episode 4. True, there are plenty of ways to watch this wonderful show in a full series binge without ads. But I have been watching it on The CW anyway just to help its ratings. Hollywood needs to be sent a message that this is the kind of content that has been sorely lacking. That there is an audience of people who would like to be inspired by the tv shows they choose, and not always feel like they have to compromise their morals to enjoy a little TV.
We know that, in the end, the powers that be at Hollywood don't really care about inspiring anyone. They have their agenda and their marching orders. But just like all other industries, not EVERYONE in the industry is evil. There are those seeking to do good things. We need to support those people. Bill Abbott and Great American Family/Pureflix UpTV Dallas Jenkins with The Chosen. Kingdom Story Company, who in conjunction with Lionsgate (who I think must have thrown away their Hollywood contract to partner with such great people), has produced some great movies lately. They have given us many, many wonderful movies such as "Jesus Revolution". "I Can Only Imagine". "I Still Believe" to name a few. Kevin Sorbo Angel Studios, who not only gave The Chosen it's help getting started but now is the one who has given "The Sound of Freedom" it's voice in theaters. I'm sure there are many others. These are the people we need to support if we want to send a clear message about truth telling and true faith/family friendly content in media. It appears that Great American is launching some new movie content, some of which are Pureflix originals, on Monday and Saturday nights.... would be great to support them as much as we can. Monday, August 7 (8 p.m. ET) with the premiere of Love on Repeat, starring Jen Lilley. When architect Amber (Jen Lilley) finds herself in limbo, re-living the same day repeatedly, she attempts to make changes in her professional and personal life that will save her from the cycle. Unlikely Angel, a Pure Flix Original, starring Jillian Murray, Saturday, August 12 (8 p.m. ET). Janie (Jillian Murray) is a power player in the boardroom but is falling apart at the thought of becoming a new mom. A silent prayer is answered when an Angel intervenes and fast forwards her life so she can learn to trust God and her purpose. **I've seen this one before on the Pureflix App. Fun movie. Wedding Cake Dreams starring Donna Benedicto and Markian Tarasuik, Monday, August 14 (8 p.m. ET). As a young girl, Carrie Watson (Donna Benedicto) placed a piece of wedding cake under her pillow because her mother told her the tradition would make her love dream come true. Two decades later, Carrie is shocked to discover the man she dreamed about is at her younger sister’s wedding. Summertime Soulmates starring Jenna Michno and Christian Howard, Saturday, August 19 (8 p.m. ET). In Summertime Soulmates, a conventional curator facing financial crises (Jenna Michno) works with an avant-garde artist (Christian Howard) to develop an unconventional exhibit. Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters, a Pure Flix Original, starring Robyn Lively, Monday, August 21 (8 p.m. ET). In Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters, a wealthy businessman (Bart Johnson) learns of his daughter’s (Carrie Alexander) sudden engagement to a missionary and makes it his mission to make sure she is closer to home. When his efforts go awry, he is forced to reconsider what being a strong father really means. Dream Wedding starring Rebecca Dalton and Jesse Hutch, Saturday, August 26 (8 p.m. ET). Sisters Kate (Rebecca Dalton) and Megan (Christa Taylor Brown) attend a local wedding fair and jokingly enter Kate in a raffle for a dream wedding package, though she has no current plans to marry. When Kate wins, the sisters must put on a show or be mortified by the joke gone awry. Learning to Love , a Pure Flix Original, starring Ina Barrón and Philip Boyd has its cable television premiere, Saturday, September 2 (8 p.m. ET). Harry (Philip Boyd) and his two daughters lose faith after his wife and daughters’ mom passes. The family hires a nanny and are pleasantly surprised by Steph (Ina Barrón) who brings never-ending warmth, positivity, and faith into the home. I plan support the Great American Family network through the fall and through the Christmas season. Prayers for great success to those who care about clean, faith and family friendly content in media. Hello Fans of Family Friendly TV! In case you missed this, Great American Family (the fastest growing network for the past year) has merged with Pureflix (the leading Faith and Family Friendly paid streaming App) While we don't yet know what this will ultimately mean... I CAN speculate on what I HOPE to see. Great American has been amazing at original Christmas movies, etc... but have not really dived into the Original Series world as of yet. I know things take time. So instead of filling up their evenings with tired old reruns of classic TV shows (not that there is anything wrong with that), why not introduce the Great American Audience to some of the wonderful series work that Pureflix has already made available. For example, a year ago I stumbled into a new series called "Going Home"... a look at the nurses who work in a Hospice Center. This show was produced by Affirm Films (the production company that gives us those wonderful, faith-based movies such as "Soul Surfer", "Fireproof", "Miracles from Heaven"... to name a few. If those two faces look familiar, they should. That is, of course, Cynthia Geary of "Northern Exposure" fame. And Cozi Zuehlsdorf who some might know as Harry Connick, Jr's daughter on those fun dolphin movies a few years ago. The first season was beautifully done, and I have just read that they are currently in production for Season 2. Wouldn't it be lovely to see this beautiful little show introduced to the Great American Family. How about.... Karen Kingsbury's "A Thousand Tomorrows" series that recently ran exclusively on Pureflix. I loved this series and thought as I was watching it that it was a shame it wasn't more widely available. Wouldn't it be awesome for it to get time on the Great American Family channel for those who do not have the Pureflix App? More information about upcoming new show/movie content can be found at this link... Pure Flix Makes a Splash at NRB With Impressive Lineup of Movies & Series, Celebrity Guests & More I don't know about you, but I love that with Network TV giving itself over to content that most families would deem inappropriate for family viewing, we have these two entertainment sources committed to providing appropriate content for families joining forces at a time when people are hungry for inspirational, and truth filled content. And what about the kids? Great American hasn't really come up with any real content for the little ones yet but did you know? Pureflix has a ton, including the entire catalogue of "Veggie Tales". Great fun for little ones. Another thing I bet you didn't know about Great American, they have launched a Book Club. Not sure exactly how it works but I think after you sign up, you read whatever book is being discussed and then have the ability to join a Zoom meeting to discuss the book. More details here... Great American Book Club Sign Up - Great American Family Great American also has an App called Great American Community which you can download on your device (and cast to your TV if you can get it to work - I'm having a bit of trouble with that) and get some great inspirational content from the actors. Danica McKellar, for example, is fun because she is a fairly new Christian and is very bubbly about it all. This app is giving her a platform to share with us all that she is learning about faith in Jesus. Her discoveries are fun to listen to as she learns and grows. Winnie Cooper has come a long way (The Wonder Years, in case you don't know). Also, wanted to mention that soon... very soon... Great American will be launching their "Christmas in July" series so might just have to start making announcements again of new content coming up. I only know of one new movie which Great American will launch the premiere of this Christmas in July season called.... "A Belgian Chocolate Christmas" A photographer takes her best friend’s place at a Belgian culinary school during the holidays and connects with the chocolatier leading the class. As romance begins to bloom, the only problem is a case of mistaken identity.
I don't do Christmas movies year round as some do... I need to preserve the fun of Christmas for the season so I don't get burned out. However, Christmas in July is different. If we can get some new movie content mid-summer this way, I'm happy to support it! I'm giving my full support to Great American/Pureflix and UpTV these days. They will be top priority for me when it comes to original movie content moving forward. This site IS called "Entertainment Good for the Soul", after all and some of the other sources are a bit of a minefield these days. heh. This site still does not have very good reach so if you stop by here and know anyone who might appreciate a site like this, please invite them around. We don't have to do "live chats while watching content together" as we do on the other site a lot but it will be nice to have a place to share thoughts about some of these shows and movies. Thanks for dropping in and have a blessed day! Doing this a bit differently this week. Instead of separate blogs; there will be one page for all things Christmas movies. Also, will be duplicating this on the RTV site. It's a contest to see which site gets the most traffic. The winner will get the Christmas movie blog permanently. See, this week I had this page all set up here but most of the Christmas movie chatting happened on the other site. Perhaps the RTV site is a better place for it to live. Let's start with Great American Family Here is the link to the Great American Family website for your viewing pleasure: Schedule - Great American Family Our focus will be on the Original Movie Premieres.... Not possible to catch them all but if you catch one you enjoy and want a place to tell us all about it, here is a place to do it! Happy Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks and a very Merry Christmas season to us all. Hello Christmas Movie Fans, I missed all of last weekend's fun so really am hoping to get a few movies in this weekend. I've heard a lot of good things about last week's new movie "Destined At Christmas" so I will for sure watch that this weekend. A big thanks to whoever it was on Facebook who worked hard to assemble these lists. If you are on Facebook, there are some wonderful Great American Family groups who go to a lot of trouble to assemble a lot of great information all year long. So just wanted to give credit where credit is due. These came from a private group called "Great American Family+ Movie Fans". A lot of good chats happen there, I guess. I just prefer off Facebook so hoping we can find a few people here to play along. Instead of me doing all the work transferring all the movies into a schedule here.... thought I'd just provide a link with a full schedule for the weekend. Schedule - Great American Family We have two originals on Great American Family this weekend. "Catering Christmas", 8 pm on Saturday starring Merritt Patterson and Daniel Lissing A fledgling caterer, Molly Frost, is hired by Jean Harrison, the perfectionistic director of the renowned Harrison Foundation, to cater this year’s annual Christmas Gala dinner. Things get complicated when Molly falls for Jean’s nephew, Carson, 30s, a travel photographer with no desire to take over the family’s foundation… until his aunt assigns him to the task of making sure the catered dinner goes perfectly. Ahhh... Daniel Lissing. (Mountie Jack to "When Calls the Heart" fans). Looking forward to this one. "Christmas Lovers Anonymous", 8 pm on Sunday, starring Brooke Burfitt and Houston Rhines A best-selling author hides her love for Christmas after an ugly break up, finding love again when she joins a website for people who are crazy about Christmas: "Christmas Lovers Anonymous."
Now, the list above says it's an original, but the Imdb says no. Released in 2021. Which is right? No idea but the reviews of it were good so I think I will trust the Great American judgment on this one and give it a watch. I just don't think it's an original movie. Of course, too many movies to catch them all. What I'm hoping is that we can get a few people who will just show up here to chat about anything and everything they are checking out on the Great American Christmas weekend. Anyone care to play along? Come one, Come all!! Christmas 2022 is right around the corner and this season we have quite a few TV Networks vying for your attention for sweet, sappy and romantic Christmas movies every single weekend. No longer is HALLMARK the only option. These days you have many to choose from. THIS blog will center around Great American Family. Now, the fun does get underway this weekend with 24/7 Christmas movie fun which will include one original. Let's take a look at what to expect. The ONE original I see on this list is "Destined for Christmas" at 8 pm on Saturday. So, let's put a spotlight there. Kim (Shae Robins) and Theo (Casey Elliot) meet in the midst of Black Friday shopping madness but there’s a definite spark between them. When a power outage causes some panic at a store, the couple gets separated. With Christmas coming, there should be plenty of distractions but neither Kim nor Theo can forget the other. Both yearn to find each other but how with so little information to go on? It’ll take a little Christmas magic and destiny to bring them back together. Sadly, I will be out of town this weekend so will miss all the fun. But there is always next week.
Lots of opportunity to catch missed movies; they repeat them all season. I have a tendency to just DVR them all on my Frndly App for viewing at my leisure. Would be great fun to find a group of enthusiastic Christmas movie watchers to spend the season with. Welcome to the kickoff of The Great American Christmas season. Here it is! The Great American Family movie list for today! The NEW and original movie premiering tonight on Great American is.... 8 pm to 10 pm Home for Harvest Starring Brigette Kingsley & Landy Cannon A travel writer is surprised to be sent back to the home town she left, heartbroken, years before. When she arrives, shes confronted by romance – old and new. A full day of sappy but fun romantic movies on Great American Family. Always fun to watch, or even re-watch some of these fun movies. If anyone would care to engage in some lighthearted chats about these fun little movies, please do so in the comments. Hoping to find a few fans of these kinds of movies to chat with. Any takers? Okay, it doesn't start until October 21st. But plenty of fun to be had until then. Let's begin by simply posting a schedule for today, September 24th beginning at noon. I would have started at 6 am like they did, if I had only done this page yesterday. Next week I will get it right. In case you are not aware, Great American Family is a family friendly network run by Bill Abbott, who used to run Hallmark. He has a passion for clean, family friendly entertainment so this network is a great choice for people wanting to escape Network TV for something a bit more family oriented. While most of the week is filled up with classic TV, on the weekend, we get lots of sappy, heartfelt, romantic, but very clean and sweet, movies. let's talk about today's movie schedule. "Identical Love", starting at noon which stars Shae Robins and Mason D. Davis I have seen this one and will give it a big thumbs up. "Retreat to Paradise", 2 pm which stars Melanie Stone and Casey Elliott "Prescription for Love" 4 pm, which stars Trever Donovan and Jillian Murray This one I have seen. Also, a big thumbs up from me. What can I say? I'm a sucker for sappy romances. "This Little Love of Mine", 6 pm, which stars Saskia Hempele and Liam McIntyre The Great American Original NEW movie for the day... "A Royal Seaside Romance", 8 pm, which stars Brittany Bristow and Dan Jeanotte When the seaside town of is under threat of redevelopment, realtor Erin will do anything to save it. Cue the handsome, Theo, a Royal looking for a new property. The catch is, he is hiding the royal part. "A Taste of Tuscany", 10 pm which stars Laura Mitchell and Brad Johnson This is the line-up for today, Saturday, September 24th. The fun continues through the night and into tomorrow. If you get a chance, check out this one... it is one of my favorite new movies this fall. "Love In Bloom", midnight then repeats at noon, starring Susie Abromeit and Julian Haig When her soon to be married little sister and fiancé become marooned at a mountain retreat days before their wedding, Amelia and the best man are tasked to step in to save the wedding. This one is, by far, my favorite so far this year. Catch it if you can. Sweet little story. I will be better prepared next week. Not sure if I want to go to this much lengthy detail every week; but maybe I can find a fun way to present the weekend schedule that will be easier to assemble and give all the information. Something like that should be posted on Friday in preparation of the weekend. Then, we can use the page to just randomly chat about the movies in one place. My only rule would be to not post any spoilers on new content until after it has already aired. Would be great if we can find a group of people interested in conversation about these kinds of things. We will see how it goes. The Christmas season on Great American Family will get underway on October 21st. I know I am really looking forward to that; last season they had some wonderful ones that I'm sure will be on repeat this season. But I've read that we can expect two new Christmas movie premieres a weekend; one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Can't Wait! |
